The Ateneo De Manila University alumnus earned his Creative Writing and Public Administration degree in the University of the Philippines before becoming the Youth Council Chairman from 1992-2001 and the City Council President for 3 consecutive terms. As a councilman, he earned a reputation which impacted the youth, human rights and public safety.
Mayor Binay's achievements has earned him recognitions and affiliations such as President of the Philippine K9 Search and Rescue Foundation, Chairman of Makati Rescue and a Member of the People's Law Enforcement Board, all reflecting to Mayor Binay's strong commitment in public service and safety.
